How to go to Sukhothai from Chiangmai and where to stay

Going to Sukhothai wasn't in my plan until I was in Thailand. Sukhothai is located in the north central of Thailand, I got attracted by the ruins of the ancient kingdom and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Historical Park. From Chiangmai to Sukhothai, it takes about 4-5 hours.

I think by bus is the cheapest way to travel. There is no travel agent that has the authorization to sell the bus ticket, so you must go to the Chiangmai Bus Terminal to get it on your own. You can buy it on the spot, however if you're a person like me that prefer everything is secured, buy in advance.

First, take a Songtheaw to the Chiangmai Bus Terminal 3. (from old city, the fare should be more than THB 40 per way, the cheapest I paid was only THB 20)

This is how it looks like.

Then look for this counter, Win Tour.

There are a few departure times that you can choose from, I bought the 11am if not mistaken.
They will provide you a receipt first, on departure day, come back to this counter to get the ticket.

THB 239 for a 5 hours journey is sooooo worth it!

Not a new bus, but the seats are comfy and spacious.
I slept for a couple of hours during the ride.

For Sukhothai, 2 major areas that most tourist will be staying are: old city (Historical Park) and new city (Sukhothai City). Distance between these 2 areas are about 13 KM. Either city, the bus will send you there, at the same price.

I've chosen to stay in the old city due to its convenience to visit the park and don't have to spend again for transportation back and forth, saving time and money. After checking on available rooms, I decided to book Wake Up at Muang Kao Boutique.

Reasons why I chose this comfortable-family-run-only 5 rooms available guesthouse are:

1. Location - the historical park is just opposite the road and lots of food choices available
2. Price - reasonable and it was within my budget. I paid about THB 1200 per night.
3. Good reviews - I've read a lot of good things about this place

The bus arrived at old city about 6pm. A man told me Wake Up is just 200 metres away.

It's a very generous guesthouse where light refreshments are provided for free.

Room is spacious and beds are super comfortable.
Standard room comes with twin beds only, if you want to have double bed, book the Superior room.

Toiletries are provided.

Artsy painting on the walls.

Sparkling clean room!

Bottle opener provided! ^_^

The market which located just 2 minutes walk from the Wake Up.
Introduced by the staff.

1 kg for THB 20, took me 2 days to finish them.
Very sweet too!

Once of my favourite Thai dessert!
2 flavours, egg and coconut.

The making~ yumsssssss~

I've no regrets staying at Wake Up. The location is perfect, price is reasonable, friendly and informative staff, feels like home and superb cleanliness level. Will stay here again if I ever visiting Sukhothai again.

I have only the phone number which is +66 83 489 4047. You can make booking from booking.com, agoda.com,  hotelscombined and priceline.com.

That's all for now, ciao~

I need a new pair of women shoes

I'm planning to buy a pair of women shoes (yes, October's salary is out!) and there are such a wide range of women shoes to choose from! Which one should I go for?
1. Nude peep toe pumps

Why?

The nude coloured pumps make women so elegant and feminine! Oh! Sexy too~ Can be worn to the office, dinner parties or even out on a special date looking amazing naturally. Besides that, it's easy to match with outfits, especially black, white, beige, peach or pink clothing.

2. Ballet flats

Why?

I'm not a big fan of pumps or high heels, so I need a pair of flats to attend more casual occasions. A cute pair of ballet flats would be sweet. Women look cute when wearing a pair of ballet flats, matching with dresses or even jeans!

3. Sleek black city boots

Why?

I have always like this cool looking type of shoes that suits my character. I can match it with skinny jeans or a skirt so I can show off an extra edgy tough character in front of others. Also, it is very comfortable and I could wear it for one whole day walking around without feeling sore on my feet.

Interested to get them? Have a look at ZALORA for the wide range of women shoes online offered from various local and international brands in reasonable prices.

I need to grab one now, till then!

Cheers!

Review of Pai Vieng Fah Resort

Choosing the correct accommodation in Pai for myself, I took these things into consideration:

1. Location - quiet and easy access

2. reasonable price
3. Cleanliness

After checking out a few places on the internet, I booked Pai Vieng Fah Resort in the end and not regret one bit when I arrived!

When I was at the bus station, I called the resort and asked for direction, the receptionist said, wait there, 5 minutes, we will send someone to pick you up! How nice!

This is the cute tuk-tuk that came to pick me up~
And it's free of charge!

Once entered, the view on the left.

Welcome~

Reception.

Every corner is very cosy.

Just sit and relax.

View from the reception area.

Walking towards my little hut~

The lower level is toilet, middle is reception area and the top floor is a place for you to view scenery.

My cot for 2 nights on the ground floor~ love it!

After settling down, I walked around the places nearby~

So green!!!

What a contrast.

A bar and place to stay.

This resort has very attentive staff. If you do not rent a motorbike and do not want to walk to the main street, you can request to have the tuk-tuk sent you to the main street and it's free of charge! Room is quite clean, price is reasonable, surrounding is quiet, so overall I rate it 8/10.

It was a pleasant stay and good experience. If I ever go to Pai again, I will stay here.

Review for the stay at Jujungan Ubud Hotel and Spa Bali, Indonesia

When I was planning for the trip to Bali, I've already made the decision to stay in Ubud for 2 nights. After all the research that I've done, I booked Jujungan Ubud Hotel and Spa via Agoda.com at about RM 1200 for 2 nights, 2 rooms on the upper floor, with breakfast included.

The reception area.

Welcome drinks were served.
Look at my mom, so happy~

Didn't get a chance to use it though...

The decorations at the hotel's restaurant.

Restaurant is on the lower ground, with water flowing, calming~

First you get fruits~

Drinks, choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate.
You can have fruit juices too~

The breakfast.
I consider this very good in Bali.

Very filling breakfast.

They have a menu at the reception for you to choose what breakfast to have in next morning.
Croissant is good too!

The sign.

The road side.

Across the street :)

Morning view.

Good for your eyes :D

Here are the pros and cons of this hotel:

Pros:
- Superb view of the rice paddy field on upper floor

- attentive and very friendly staff
- very clean rooms and hotel, sheets are fresh
- spacious rooms
- awesome breakfast with variety of choices
- size of the hotel (it might be the cons for some people. to me, I like it to be small with a few rooms only)
- bicycle rental available

Cons:
- Not in the center (didn't matter to us as we have guide everyday, so transportation wasn't a problem)
- No lift (if the stairs are inconvenient for you, you may book the lower level of rooms, which are cheaper and view is not as nice as the upper level)

Tips:
- before making a reservation, do check with the hotel first for the rice paddy as it's not green all the time

- always do comparison of price with different booking sites

That's all for today. Thanks for reading!
